Overview

Brûlerie du Quai is a specialty coffee roaster known for its technical, professional approach to the craft. They came to me to refresh their entire shelf presence. A redesign meant to make their products instantly recognizable and unmistakably set apart.

Objective

I applied Brûlerie du Quai's core values: sustainability, human connection, and purity, to conceive the perfect physical vessel for their coffee.

SUSTAINABILITY

"Our product comes from the earth; preserving it is our responsibility, and packaging it sustainably is non-negotiable."

The old bag, a mixed-material construction of aluminum and plastic, impossible to recycle, was replaced with a 100% recyclable LDPE4 bag. The label followed the same logic: recycled paper, printed with biodegradable algae and soy-based inks in place of petroleum-based ones.

HUMAN EXPERIENCE / CONNECTION

"Coffee is only the medium. The people gathered around the table are what matter - the bond, the moment, the experience. That is what Brûlerie du Quai exists for."

To honour the people behind the labour, each bag now carries the farmer's name, farm, and country of origin on its front. "A mark of respect for work too often left invisible". Coffee is a chain of hands: the grower who cultivates the beans, the roaster who draws out every delicate note, and the person who brews the final cup. That chain is the human experience this design makes visible.

PURITY

To find, study, and roast the exceptional... that is the pursuit. A relentless quest for the perfect cup."

Three collections were created to reflect the different tiers of quality within Brûlerie du Quai's offer. Minimalist, clean, and built around a calm colour palette, each package draws from the same source of inspiration: nature itself. A vessel that speaks of sophistication without ever raising its voice.

FINAL LOOK

The final packaging sits at the intersection of eco-brutalism and post-modern minimalism with a touch of futurism. Clean lines, tactile textures, and materials that are 100% sustainable. A gradient fading to transparency lets the coffee itself take precedence. The true subject of the design, finally visible.
